The chat stops showing red for things that are not mistakes, and long chats stay smooth
Stopping a run, a short reconnect or a busy moment no longer shows red text, and a failed context cleanup is no longer called a success.
Red text is for real problems only
The red note at the top right used to appear for almost anything: pressing Stop, switching to another chat while one was running, a brief reconnect, or the host finishing a turn. Most of those are not mistakes, so they no longer show red.
A short wait now reads as a quiet grey line such as "Reconnecting…", and it goes away by itself. When something really fails, the note is short and in plain words, with the full detail kept in the activity list. It clears when your next turn starts or when you open another chat. Pressing Stop leaves a quiet "Stopped" line in the chat, even before the first word has arrived.
Context cleanup tells the truth
When a long chat is tidied to make room, the chat now shows one line for each attempt. A cleanup that did not work says "Context not compacted" and gives the reason in plain words, instead of showing a green tick. If the same cleanup fails again on later turns, you see that line once, not every turn. A skipped one leaves no line at all, and the counter only goes up when something was really cleaned up.
The context meter no longer says it is compacting just because a cleanup is coming. It says "Compaction due" until one actually starts. A side chat, or an approval from another chat, can no longer flip the open chat's streaming, compacting or busy state either.
Smoother long chats
While an answer streams, only that answer is redrawn. Before, every earlier message in a long chat was redrawn and its tool calls were read again with each new word. Closed tool lists are no longer built until you open them, and a long answer in a background chat is now read from a short recent tail instead of from the start each time a word arrives.
