Bandicot now uses the newest Claude Code on your Mac, so Opus means Opus 5.5

Picking Opus, Sonnet or Haiku now gets you the current model, and the efficiency pane shows what subscription calls would cost at API prices.

The newest Claude Code wins

Bandicot talks to your Claude account through Claude Code. Your Mac can hold several copies of it, and Bandicot used to take the first one it found. On some Macs that was an old copy, so choosing Opus 5.5 quietly gave you Opus 4.8.

Bandicot now looks at every copy, including the one that comes with the Claude desktop app, and uses the newest version. If you set a Claude Code path yourself, that choice still wins.

Prices follow the model that answered

Calls on a Claude or ChatGPT sign-in cost you nothing per call, so the efficiency pane now also shows what they would have cost at public API prices. It is a comparison, labelled that way, and your real spend does not change.

Each call is priced by the model that actually answered it, not by the name you picked. Opus, Sonnet and Haiku mean different models in different Claude Code releases, so a call that cannot be matched to a published price is counted and left out rather than guessed.
