A finished helper wakes when you write to it, and fewer tool calls are wasted
A message to a helper that had finished now starts its next turn instead of waiting forever, and a stray backslash no longer throws a tool call away.
When a chat sent a follow-up to a helper session that had already finished, the message was filed and never read: the helper had no next turn coming. Now the message starts that turn. A helper you stopped yourself stays stopped.
On the Claude Code route the model writes its tool calls as text, and a search such as `a\|b` or a command with a line break inside it was rejected whole. Bandicot now repairs exactly those slips when that alone makes the call readable, so the model does not spend a turn writing it again.
